Five people were killed in an accident on the Asikuma-Kpeve Highway in the Volta Region, including two police officers.
The accident occurred when the tire on a Ford Transit bus with registration number GJ 729-21, carrying seventeen passengers from Accra to Kpassa, burst.
In an attempt to gain control of the vehicle, the driver of the Ford bus veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a motorcycle bearing the registration number M-22 VR 4, which was carrying the two police officers.
Two police officers, two other males, and one female passenger on the Ford Transit bus were killed on the spot.
The injured, including the driver of the Ford transit bus, were taken to Peki Government Hospital for treatment, and the deceased were taken to the hospital’s mortuary.
