The Students’ Parliamentary Council of the University of Cape Coast has inducted into office, new officers to conduct student business for the 19th Parliament and the 4th Parliamentary council respectively.
The 18th Students’ parliamentary council was dissolved, as is customary in the House, to pave the way for new members such as the speaker, chief justice, chief whip, and clerks to take office.
Addressing the House during the first sitting, the outgone Speaker of the Parliament, Right Honorable Yahaya Abdul- Karim appealed to the Student Representative Council President, Mr. Samuel Kwabena Adotei to endeavor to secure the implementation of the student constitution as soon as possible.
He said “The current constitution stipulates that every 5 years it should be reviewed. During last academic year when I took office, there was a draft constitution which was yet to be approved. My interactions with the current President is that the constitution is almost ready to be prorogated. I’ll be happy that before the semester ends, we have a working constitution that captures every arm that captures every angle of the student’s front”.

On his part, the new Speaker of Parliament, Right Honorable Elipkim Gamor pledged to work to ensure that all of the house’s activities proceed according to plan.
He also said he will together with the leadership of the House, work together to ensure the parliamentary council is given the need recognition it deserves.
President of the University of Cape Coast Student Representative Council, Samuel Kwabena Adotei, hinted that his executives will work with the house to ensure that pragmatic changes are realized before the end of his term.
He however noted that it is their utmost expectation that the executives give them the needed maximum support in this regard.
