Thousands of civil servants who are members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) will leave their jobs indefinitely today.
The Association is protesting terrible working conditions, claiming that “they deserve better condition of service now.”
Members of CLOGSAG will return to work only if the government satisfies its demand, according to the organization.
At a press conference in Cape Coast on Wednesday, the Association’s Central Regional Secretary, Alhaji Apam Nuhu, asked members to remain steadfast until their demands were satisfied.
“The Association do hereby declare our absolute and unbendable willingness to embark on the nationwide strike action beginning Thursday, January 20, 2022,” he said.
The Association threatened to go on strike in December of last year. It was stated that its members’ conditions had been overlooked, whilst other services had a higher pay structure.
According to the CLOGSAG, despite repeated warnings, the Ministry of Finance has neglected to answer a year after its proposed wage structure was provided to it.
The Association said that it feels marginalized and, as a result, must withdraw its services.
