The Minority in Parliament has accused the government of wasting GH32 million on meetings and seminars between January and September as part of the Covid-19 budget.
The opposition, which has been calling for an investigation into how the government used the Covid-19 funds amassed during the pandemic, has also accused the administration of misuse of the funds.
In an interview with JoyNews, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee, vowed that such wasteful spending would not be overlooked.
According to him, NDC MPs would guarantee that any monies spent on Covid-19 are properly accounted for.
“We will put the matter before the House and ensure that accountability is achieved,” he told Kwesi Parker-Wilson.
Parliament’s select committees are meeting with heads of several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to account for and defend their budgets for 2022.
