George Perry Atta-Mensah, popularly known as Okortor Perry, has explained why he thinks most Cape Coast artistes do not ‘make it’ in the music industry.
In an interview that he granted recently on ATL FM, Okortor Perry explained that most Cape Coast artistes do not want to remain in Cape Coast but rather prefer to travel to Accra to seek ‘greener pastures because they believe that they would ‘make it better’ in Accra with their music career. Okortor Perry proceeded to say that most of the artistes in Cape Coast who started about 2011 and 2012 made the ‘bad’ decision of moving from Cape Coast to Accra.
The popular Akata’ crooner proceeded to say that if these artistes have exercised more patience and waited for about four to five more years in Cape Coast, he believes that things would have turned out ‘better’ for them. However, most Cape Coast artists felt that they had to travel to Accra in other to expand their music career.

According to Okortor Perry, Accra is full of many talented artistes who are equally ‘struggling’ to succeed in their music career, therefore it would be difficult for artistes from other regions or even Cape Coast to be popular in Accra without having money, strong contacts and connections.
He advised upcoming artists to be patient and focus on the region in which they began so that they can build a stronger foundation there and attract greater opportunities.
