The vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong says the university is willing to work with the government and other stakeholders to develop the youth into problem-solvers for Ghana and the world at large.
He made this known at the Central Region edition of the Springboard Ghana Cares youth Dialogue held Monday at the University of Cape Coast.
According to him, the covid-19 pandemic has necessitated a great recess thus, the ability of young entrepreneurs to generate new products and services that will lead to job creation will improve the global economic recovery of the nation adding that “as a university, we are well-positioned to partner government and non-governmental agencies to take up this challenge of an urgent call to action. “
He, therefore, insisted that the program was in the right direction as it would help to find novel ways to create opportunities to benefit the present and generations unborn.
In an effort to contribute to the entrepreneurial ability of the nation, Prof Nyarko Boampong indicated that the university has developed programs to improve the innovation ability of its students.
He notes that the university has in collaboration with the German Ministry of Economic Corporation and Development among others “set up ultramodern facilities to undertake Digicap project to nurture the entrepreneurial and employability skills of youth in information and communication technology. We have designed thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurial hub to nurture and grow innovative business ideas of students and staff as well as grow entrepreneurial leaders who will serve as agents of change within their communities.”
Other initiatives being implemented include robust university-wide entrepreneurship programs for all level 300 students and the provision of business incubators to consciously empower students to identify business ideas and grow them viably.
In addition, he said the student representative council has imbibed the entrepreneurial idea and is working assiduously to access the innovative business ideas for their peers.
Prof Nyarko Boampong emphasized that the university is truly ready to partner with the government and all stakeholders to build the youth to become global citizens who are ready to solve problems that confront our country and the world at large.

In his presentation, the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori- Atta reiterated the need for Ghanaians to give their full support for the implementation of the policies proposed in the 2022 budget.
According to him, all the initiatives of the government in the budget are not just theories thus, full support will ensure that properly designed assistance is offered to the youth of Ghana to venture into businesses.
