The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Northern Regional Functional Executive Committee (NRFEC) has decided to suspend the Chairman of the Mion Constituency for at least two years.
Alhaji Abdulai Zakaria was deemed to have committed “misconduct” and “anti-party behavior.”
After the Regional Disciplinary Committee filed its findings, the Committee convened on Saturday, November 20 to make a decision.
The report came as a result of an inquiry into charges made against him by certain party members.
“The NRFEC acting in compliance with article 48(1) of the constitution unanimously adopted the report and, decided you are ineligible to hold office for a period of two years beginning from the date of your suspension,” a letter to the now-suspended Constituency Chairman said.
The letter, signed by the NDC’s Northern Regional Secretary, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, advised Alhaji Zakaria to go to the National Executive Committee (NEC) “if you have any grievance on the committee’s report.”
He is required to surrender any party property in his possession.
