The Municipal Chief Executive (M.C.E) of Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem, Lawyer Solomon Ebo Appiah on Monday encouraged all the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to work hard and pass their examination in order to enjoy the free SHS policy.
He indicated saying “government is very optimistic that the students have no excuse because the candidates have free SHS at their disposal.”
“In the past, people before going to write the BECE contemplated the possibility of going to SHS even if they passed and this is because of financial difficulty. Today, that kind of contemplation is out. All that one needs is to pass well and it will be possible for the person to attend SHS.”
Mr. Ebo Appiah said these when he was assisted by the Municipal Director of Education for KEEA, Cecila Aboagye to visit some of the centres at the commencement of the 2021 BECE.

He urged the pupils to remain calm and recall into memory what they have learnt in answering the questions that would be put before them.
At Archbishop Porters Girls Polytechnic where 414 pupils from 15 schools were writing their first paper, Social Studies, he entreated all the pupils to abide by the laid down examination rules and regulations to avoid any examination malpractice and its adverse effects on them.
Mr. Ebo Appiah also encouraged them to be confident and not panic as they write the exams to make their parents, teachers as well as himself proud.
“This is the time for us to pray for our kids and encourage them. This the time to release them of their household chores,” he said in his charge to parents and guardians whose wards are writing the BECE.
Speaking exclusively to ATL FM NEWS, the Examination supervisor at Archbishop Porters Girls Polytechnic Examination Centre, Wilfred Addodoadji revealed that two girls who were pregnant were amongst those writing the exams with only one person being absent.
“The paper started as we expected. This being a new center we are trying our best to ensure things go on well the way both the WAEC and GES want it,” he added.
3, 561 candidates from 112 schools in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem municipality are writing the exams this year.
