National Alternative Dispute Resolution Coordinator at the Judicial Service, Alex Nartey has called on Ghanaians to embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution in settling some disputes to help reduce pressure at the various courts in the country.
According to him, ADR serves as a compliment and the best way to solve disputes, thus making access to justice cheaper, easier, non-adversarial, and faster.
He adds that ADR assists parties to comply with agreements as people who design solutions to their own conflicts are more likely to be satisfied with the outcomes than people whom resolution is thrust upon.

Speaking in an interview as part of activities to commemorate the ADR week, Mr. Nartey stressed that it is imperative for every Ghanaian to embrace ADR to avoid unnecessary spending and delay in disputes settlement.
“If you don’t develop taste for the use of ADR in this country, you will be found wanting one day because wherever you pass, you will be faced with ADR before you will even launch into the court system proper.” He added.
He explained that litigation stifles development, breaks relationships, drains businesses, and such there is the need to develop a massive desire for ADR.
