On Tuesday, October 26, Ghanaian dancehall singer Livingstone Este Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy in showbiz circles, took part in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay in the Tema – Ashaiman area.
On Monday, October 25, 2021, the 16th official QBR landed in Ghana and was welcomed by the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
It was presented to the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, and then handed over to Stonebwoy, who strolled through some of Accra’s most vibrant-principal streets with it.
Throughout the journey, he had moments of celebration as he visited local schools and explored renowned landmarks.
Stonebwoy and the Ghana Olympic Committee celebrated and connected communities from across the 72 Commonwealth countries and territories through the Queen’s Baton Relay, while also showcasing untold stories from Batonbearers, athletes, and young people striving for change in the Ghanaian community, as well as a project addressing one of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Queen’s Baton Relay is a global relay staged prior to the start of the Commonwealth Games.
The baton relay highlights humanity’s uniqueness while also bringing people together. It symbolizes the concept that each person has unique life experiences that are linked together and woven into a cultural tapestry. To signify the strength of cooperation, the Baton form is entwined with unique components and exhibits connectedness.
