After five days on remand, hiplife artiste Samuel Frimpong, better known as Medikal, has been granted bail.
He was released on bail for GH100,000 with one surety.
Medikal was remanded in custody on October 22, 2021, by a Circuit Court judge in Accra for brandishing a weapon in a video discovered on social media.
He was accused of displaying firearms and ammunition but pleaded not guilty.
The hearing has been rescheduled for November 9, 2021.
At the hearing on Friday, October 22, 2021, Medikal’s attorney pleaded with the court to give him bail, stating that his client is a law-abiding citizen with relatives on standby to assist him in meeting the bail conditions.
However, the prosecution objected to the plea, stating that Medikal’s individual right to bail is subordinate to the community interest, which should be preserved.
Additionally, he maintained that portions of the case are still being investigated.
Last Monday, the court agreed with his reasoning and remanded the accused.
