The Takoradi Divisional Police Command has arrested three persons for allegedly faking a kidnap incident in Takoradi in the Western Region.
The three suspects namely, Joana Krah aged 29, Susana Awortwe Aged 27, and Francis Eshun aged 27 are said to have demanded a ransom of Five-Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 5,000) in the kidnapping process.
The police in a statement on Monday, October 25, 2021, said, reports they received indicates that main suspect Joana Krah, conspired with the two other suspects to feign her kidnapping on Friday, October 22, 2021, after which a call was placed to her adopted father in demand for the ransom.
However, when Joana became aware that an extensive search to find her had commenced after her adopted father had reported to the Police, she showed up at the Takoradi Police Central Police Station the following day October 23, to confess her kidnapping incident was only a joke.
The two suspects Susana Awortwe and Francis Eshun were arrested for complicity upon further investigations by the Police. All suspects are expected to be processed for court today Monday 25.
The police is advising the public to desist from the act of fake kidnapping for monetary gains adding that it is a criminal act and such perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the state.
