Kuami Eugene, a Ghanaian Afrobeat singer and songwriter, believes negative criticism would not deter him from creating music.
Kuami Eugene said that people would always find flaws in him, but it will not stop him from creating music or from being himself.
He stated that he is aware of tantrums people hurl at him, particularly when he releases new songs.
For some time now, Kuami Eugene has been accused of sampling songs from other artists without permission.
However, he said that he is unconcerned by critics. Because he focuses on making good contributions to music and his personality.
The award-winning musician said that unfavorable remarks about his musical career started when Amakye Dede dubbed him the “next highlife king.”
Because of his (Kuami’s) age, Amakye Dede was heavily criticized by industry professionals for bestowing the mantle of highlife genre to Kuami Eugene.
According to the “Dollar on You” hitmaker, he has been subjected to a barrage of criticism since the incident.
Despite this, Kuami thinks that certain Ghanaians truly adore him and fully support his music.
“I am actually loved. Regardless of whatever is going on and whatever is being said, I am loved by Ghanaians. And I appreciate it,” he said.
The highlife singer also said that his open-mindedness toward his music prevents him from paying attention to criticism.
Kuami Eugene, speaking about his recently released song “Bunker,” said he wants everyone to know that despite resistance, he would never give up on music.
“My lyrics in my song doesn’t mean I’m attacking somebody. It’s just a message out there that I’m not giving up because of critics”.
The song, which was released three days ago and was produced by Kuami Eugene, has already surpassed 300,000 views on YouTube.
According to the “Open Gate” hitmaker, global views have been incredible since the song’s debut, and he plans to hit one million in a week on YouTube.
The Lynx Entertainment signee has announced that an EP would be released on November 2, 2021. It is an Afro highlife EP, according to him, since it combines Afrobeat with Highlife music.
Kuami Eugene stated that despite the fact that Afrobeat music is more marketable, he cannot exclude highlife from his upcoming EP due to his passion for the genre.
He also stated that he had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned artist George Darko on the production of several tracks on the EP.
Kuami Eugene promised fans that songs will be released on a regular basis throughout the year.
