The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey has dedicated GH₵1,500 out of his salary as a Member of Parliament (MP) to veteran actor Psalm Adjeteyfio to be paid to him every month till the end of the 8th Parliament.
The veteran actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio who shot to fame in the late 90’s up to mid 2000’s with his role as the main character in the epic television series, Taxi Driver. However, after gaining prominence and featuring in other movies like a Stab in the Dark, one of the biggest box office hits that won several awards details a lady, Effe, who betrays her best friend by having an illicit affair with Effe’s father, who happened to be Psalm Adjeteyfio.
In a recent interview on YouTube, Psalm Adjeteyfio mentioned some of the challenges he is currently facing because of some huge financial crisis he found himself in and some of the poor decisions he made.
It was against this background that he had put out there that he needed the assistance of about 3,000 Ghana for his rent and was supported by the Vice President, Dr. Mahmmoud Bawumia who donated fifty thousand cedis(50, 000 GHS) to support the veteran actor.
In a similar fashion, the Greater Accra Minister and the Member of Parliament, Ayawaso Central Constituency, Henry Quartey has instructed that one thousand and five hundred cedis (1,500 GHS) of his salary be given to the veteran actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio till the end of the 8th Parliament.
However, it is reported that the veteran actor, Psalm Adjeteyfio who has been supported by the Greater Accra Minister, Henry Quartey mentioned in a separate interview that he was not embarrassed because he made the whole nation aware he was having financial challenges.
“When you have a problem and you don’t tell people about it, there’s no way they would know,” he said.
“I must add that I didn’t call for the interview but I just used their outlet to channel my situation hence I’m not embarrassed,”.
