The People’s National Convention (PNC) headquarters was thrown into disarray when party officials engaged in heated arguments during a press conference to inform Ghanaians about the suspension of their National General Secretary, Janet Nabila.
On August 28, 2021, the PNC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) decided to suspend Nabila indefinitely for severe misbehavior, insubordination, and incompetence.
However, she has so far rejected all of the accusations leveled against her and has condemned the suspension.
On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the PNC offices in Accra, a press conference became nasty when the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Bala Mei Kankan, repeatedly interrupting the event with his interjections while the party’s Communications Director, Awudu Ishaque, was addressing the press.
Mei Kankan went to great lengths to protect the PNC’s suspended General Secretary.
After unsuccessful attempts to persuade him to leave the premises so that the briefing could continue, PNC officials and police forcefully pulled Mei Kankan out of the venue.
Following the incident, the media conference was stopped for some minutes.
Meanwhile, the PNC has set Janet Nabila a one-week deadline to take over to the PNC National Treasurer.
The party’s leaders have also decided that Prince Agyeman Duah would serve as interim General Secretary till further notice.
Janet Nabila has previously disputed that she had been suspended from the party.
According to her, the information about her claimed suspension is being spread by the party’s Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, and the PNC’s 2020 flagbearer, David Apasara, who are afraid of being exposed for allegedly embezzling the party’s money.
She stated that Mr. Apasara and Mr. Dani-Baah were attempting to frustrate her because she had taken measures that would expose them for stealing GHS70,000 from the party’s finances without responsibility or justification.
She said that the monies were part of a total collected by the party for the building of its offices.
