The General Secretary elect of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, ICU, Morgan Ayawine, has promised to adopt the principle of action speak louder than words in seeking better conditions of service for Ghanaian workers.
He say the new national officers of the ICU are poised to sustain the gains made by trade unionists over the years, through informed strategic decisions and policies in the union building efforts.
Mr. Ayawine, said this when he was sworn-in together with six other national officers for a four-year term, at the ICU’s 11th Quadrennial Delegates’ Conference, held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.

Mr. Ayawine, tasked the Union’s Field Officers and Staff to organize for more membership, and reiterated the need for the fundamental trade union rights of workers to be respected to further deepen the industrial harmony in the country for sustainable growth.
Mr. Ayawine who was elected unopposed as General Secretary was the immediate past Deputy General Secretary in charge of Operations of the ICU-Ghana.
The other national officers were voted upon in a keen contest. The new National Chairman, is Alhaji Nuru-Deen Alhassan, with Paul Kofi Charway, as National Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Baah Banimah, as Deputy General Secretary in-charge of Operations, Samuel Ananga, Deputy General Secretary for Administration, with National First Trustee, Charles Kojo Yeboah and Jemima Senaye-Bentum as National second Trustee.
