Africa Education Watch, an education think tank, claims it maintains by its allegation that the Food and Nutrition Practical 3 Examination questions in the current 2021 WASSCE have been leaked.
Kofi Asare, the group’s Executive Director, initially made his allegations on his Facebook page.
However, during a press conference, WAEC denied the allegations, stating that they were false.
Mrs. Addy-Lamptey stated that instructions for the Food and Nutrition Practical are published early to assist schools in properly preparing for the practical test.
“It is purely to enable the teachers to prepare for the conduct of the actual paper, which was taken on Friday, 20th August,” Mrs. Addy-Lamptey said.
“The paper clearly includes just recommendations and was previously in the public domain, so we are shocked that it has been picked up and referred to as a leaked document,” she said.
In response to WAEC’s denial, Kofi Asare, Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, maintained that the leak had happened.
He did, however, advocate for the exam’s administration to be digitized in order to reduce the human influence.
“The questions for the Food and Nutrition Practical 3 which was written on Friday, August 20, 2021, got leaked at exactly 11:08 am on a telegram platform. We have shared the evidence with the media and we have also shared it with the Ministry of Education and anyone who wants to very it can go and do so” he noted.
Past tensions with Africa Education Watch
Earlier in 2021, WAEC contemplated suing Africa Education Watch for a report on their evaluation of the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The report said that a number of anomalies were observed during the inspection.
However, WAEC said that the report included factual errors and was deceptive.
Some papers for the 2020 WASSCE were leaked before to the examinations.
Confidential information about examiners was also stolen, leading WAEC to report the incident to the Ghana Police Service’s Cyber Crime Department.
