Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu has urged the interim executives of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital’s branch of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS-CCTH) to work in the interest of the profession per their constitution and towards the welfare of the chapter members.
Speaking at the launch of the Association on 29th July at Cape Coast, he reiterated managements’ efforts at ensuring that the Association gets the required support needed to enhance the practice of the medical laboratory profession and also enhance their contribution to the delivery of advanced health care in the region.
“I am delighted for the progress you have made over the years to integrate this essential science and profession in our healthcare delivery systems in Ghana”, he indicated.
Dr. Ngyedu further said the Ghana Health Service is proud of the laboratory scientists in the country and reminded the members of the association that their work in the country is a collaborative one.
He said, “we are working together as one healthcare team in delivering on the mandate of our hospitals and upholding to the highest esteem in the name of the profession and the integrity of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital”.
The President of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Dr. Abu Abudu Rahamani, launching the Association said it is a constitutional mandate for all Regional Branches with Teaching Hospitals to have an established and well-defined Association for Medical Laboratory Scientists.
He noted that it is important for the members to go according to the Association’s Constitution and assured the interim executives of the support of the National Executive and the National Executive Council for them to put up good structures to help members with the chapter.
“I want to encourage the interim executives to understand that it is very good to serve members”, he stated.
