Thousands of Ghanaians flocked to the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Monday, July 19, 2021, to take part in the paperwork and medical screening procedure for enlistment into the Ghana Army.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Prince Tandoh, the Commanding Officer of the 5th Infantry Battalion, these individuals comprise Senior High School graduates as well as degree and certificate holders.
The screening procedure, which started at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, will conclude on July 24, 2021.
Some candidates arrived as early as 5:00 a.m. at the stadium.
In the next round of recruitment, the Army plans to enlist roughly 1,000 people who will take an aptitude exam.
According to Lt Col. Tandoh, the military did its utmost to follow coronavirus safety procedures.
“Only those with printed paperwork will be permitted in, and as you can see, we have sanitizers and veronica buckets on hand, so we are doing our best to adhere to the protocols.”
Despite the fact that the procedure was difficult, several participants claim they are optimistic of being chosen as one of the few to be hired.
“As soon as I walked in, I felt pressed since there were so many people here. One of the candidates said, “I didn’t expect to finish early.”
