The Cape Coast Youth Development Association (CCYDA) has refuted allegations that the name of Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, has been removed from the record of the National House of Chiefs.
It described the publishing in certain tabloids on Tuesday, June 22, as startling and very repugnant.
As a result, the Association demanded a complete retraction of the published article, with the same prominence and banner, within a week by means of a reply, as per the Oguamanhen’s legal right without fail.
According to a press release signed by Mr. Francis Baidoo, Chairman of the Association, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast on Wednesday, the unfortunate publication occurred at a time when Osabrimba, the Oguaa Traditional Council, and the CCYDA were leading a massive development agenda for the Area.
It said that the holistic objective, which was to improve the image of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Area and the Central Region as a whole with the help of certain foreign investors, must not be jeopardized in any manner.
“The Association has critically reviewed the publication and found the contents as most unfortunate, mischievous and calculated to destroy the ongoing massive developmental projects in the Cape Coast metropolis.
“The Association will not sit unconcerned for such destructive publications to drive out international investors determined to invest to accelerate development,” it said.
The Association, on the other hand, had urged the seven Asafo businesses of Oguaa, via their individual leaders, who remained the legitimate Kingmakers, to act as soon as possible.
The statement emphasized the importance of the media being fair and publishing only up-to-date information based on the truth and proper procedures.
