Fans of Michael Jackson held a memorial service for the late King of Pop who died on 25th June 2009 after he had been killed by his doctor, Dr Conrad Murray.

It’s hard to believe that’s been 12 years since Michael Jackson passed away.

To show solidarity and their love for Michael Jackson, on Friday (June 25), fans paid tribute to the King of Pop on social media, as that day marked 12 years since the multiple award-winning musician passed on.

It is however being reported that some fans of his who idolized him on that day paid a visit to the outer yard of his neighbourhood, Gary, Indiana, where he was brought up in his formative years to be a star.

Among the plethora of things they laid outside Jackson’s boyhood home in Gary, Indiana included notes, flowers and memorabilia.

Social media wasn’t spared the heat of the memorial as it became the main grounds for showing love to both the family and fans of the Pop Icon who passed away on 25th June 2009.

Some of the fans also shared words of encouragement with his friends and family and others also were of good thoughts for him through prayers. 

“Michael Jackson, thank you so much. Thank you for gifting the world with your talent, with your grace & with your magic. Thank you for making this world a better place through your music,” one fan tweeted.

Other fans shared fan art, special video edits and their favourite concert memories of Jackson.

Jonathan Moffett, Jackson’s drummer of 30 years, also took to Twitter to honour his late friend. “I still remember the very last time you told me you loved me….12 years ago around this time on June 25, 2009…. Missing you and love you always,” he wrote.

Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009, at his Los Angeles home, where he was found with a weak pulse and not breathing. He was transported to UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was 50.

It was later determined that his cause of death was an overdose of Propofol, a drug that was used to combat his insomnia. His personal doctor was later charged with involuntary manslaughter.
