According to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, at least 15 road projects were started and finished between 2017 and 2020.
In response to charges that the government had not finished any road projects under Akufo-first Addo’s term, the Ministry said this.
The Ministry of Transportation released a list of 15 road projects on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, claiming that they are just a fraction of what it has done since 2017.
The list includes highways that the Akufo-Addo government started and finished between 2017 and 2020.
The majority of the projects on this list were finished in 2020 and are spread around the nation.
The Kwabeng-Akropong road and the renovation of the Bekwai town roads are among the projects highlighted.
The Ministry also clarified several of the Minister’s statements, such as his vow to build 20 interchanges by the end of 2024.
It claimed that four such interchanges had already been constructed.
It said besides the completed roads, many other projects were still ongoing.
The ongoing projects include the Sinohydro project.
According to the Ministry, those projects are all at various stages of completion.
Last month, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, the minister in charge of the sector, said that the government has huge plans to modernize the country’s road network between 2021 and 2024.
He said that 6,000 kilometers out of 11,000 kilometers are projected to be completed.
In addition, 120 bridges will be built during the course of the project, out of a total of 200.
Mr. Amoako Amoako-Atta said that the Nana Addo government’s second term would see the completion of 20 interchanges around the country by the end of 2024.
This is one of the 25 interchanges that the Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government want to build.
The government claimed in a statement that its goal to build 6,000 kilometers of road in four years would be the single greatest network of road building done in the nation in four years.
