Sam Jonah, a businessman, has been honored by Imperial College London for his excellent services to business and the earth sciences.
Sam Jonah’s achievements in earth sciences and business, according to the College, have motivated its faculty and students.
“It is with great joy that I write to inform you that the Imperial College London Council has decided to award on you the honorary degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa in recognition of your excellent contribution to the world.”

“I am ecstatic to be bestowing this, our greatest honor. Your achievements in earth sciences and business are an inspiration to our staff and students,” said portions of a letter from Professor Alice P. Gast, President of Imperial College London, reminding Mr. Jonah of his award.
Samuel Esson Jonah is the acting Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and a Ghanaian businessman.
Equator Exploration Ltd, Scharrig Mining, Equinox Minerals, Uramin, Moto Goldmines Ltd, and Range Resources Ltd all have Mr. Sam Jonah on their boards.
Transnet, Mittal Steel SA, Ashesi University, Standard Bank of South Africa, Lonmin, the Commonwealth African Investment Fund (Comafin), and the Advisory Council of the UN Secretary General’s Global Compact are among the other boards on which he serves.
Mr. Jonah is also a member of the London Business School’s Advisory Board.
