The employees of the Ghana Electricity Company’s Accra East Branch have laid down their equipment in defiance of the company’s Managing Director.
Staff contend that the continued presence of ECG’s Managing Director, Kwame Agyeman Budu, would contribute to the company’s collapse.
An affected consumer saidthat ECG employees declined to help him.
“I came here to get answers to some questions I have about my meter, but when I arrived, I was told they were going to do a demonstration. Customers would not profit from this.”

Staff have been seeking the resignation of the company’s new Managing Director over what they call “incompetence” on his part for the past few weeks.
They also said that since 2020, Mr. Agyeman-Budu has dismissed many petitions urging him to engage the ranks and file in revenue mobilization.
The staff argued that the MD’s continued presence at the helm would bring the electricity delivery corporation to its knees because “he is grossly incompetent in matters relating to managerial and corporate governance.”
They also blame their MD of failing to follow procurement procedures.
