Two English clubs are reportedly “losing their nerve” over being included in the proposed European Super League.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all signed up to form an alternative to the Champions League.

Their respective decisions have been met by widespread disapproval, including from the Premier League, who have warned the clubs involved that they could be kicked out of the top flight.

The remaining 14 teams in the Premier League are due to meet on Tuesday to discuss their next move, while UEFA has threatened to ban any players involved in the competition from representing their countries at major tournaments.

According to journalist Oliver Holt of the Daily Mail, two teams are having second thoughts over whether they wish to remain involved with the controversial proposal.

English Premier League clubs allowed to give extension to out-of-contract players

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, the head of the ESL, insisted on Monday evening that each of the 12 European clubs had signed legally binding contracts over the weekend.
