Ghanaian musician based in the USA, Jay Baba has encouraged his colleague musicians and other up and coming music talents to digitize or stream their music since it would yield more profit, especially in the Covid-19 period.
Yahaya Alhassan popularly referred to as Jay Baba who had initially intimated that he believes in the supremacy of the African culture related on the Entertainment Zone show hosted by Barrister Daniels that although these monetization or digitization platforms may not give one enough or huge returns immediately, it is quite better if one invests in digitizing his or her craft on these music stream sites.
“Most of the artistes are now focusing on streaming and that is the next level to go. Although sometimes these streaming platforms may pay very little initially, after a period, you would reckon that the monies would start trickling in bit by bit. I started streaming my music about 3 years ago, under a third-party company called stream core, but now I operate my own streaming site” he mentioned.

He also urged his colleagues to invest and push their music since it was the only gateway to make enough out of their craft. In doing so, he added that one would need to engage the services of professionals or experts who are well vexed in the streaming or digitization business to handle that aspect of the business.
However, for the lack of finance, it would be expedient on the path of the musician to learn how to manage these streaming sites and how they function to derive the maximum benefits from the process.

“You do not purchase a fishing vessel and expect that it brings you fish when you haven’t paid for people to manage and use your vessel for fishing. One other way of investing in your music apart from engaging the services of experts is to devote your time as a resource to maximize your digitization process” he stated.
One of his biggest dreams is to become a record label owner and assist up and coming artiste. He is set to release his new album, Bazarzagi, an album dedicated to his patrilineal lineage which is traced to a tribe in Nigeria in the Zaria state.
The album is set to be released in two weeks time and it features, Maccasio from Tamale, Strongman, Boogie Wenzday, Yaa Pono and other Nigerian artistes.
