The Denkyira Development Association (DDA) has renewed calls on government to urgently rehabilitate major roads within the Denkyira enclave, citing their critical role in transportation, trade and economic development.
The appeal was made by the President of the Association, Mr. Barnor Lokko, during the 4th Akwasidae Celebration held at Jukwa, the traditional capital of the Denkyira State.
According to Mr. Lokko, several key road networks in the area have deteriorated significantly over the years, creating difficulties for residents, commuters, transport operators and businesses.
He identified the Twifo Praso–Asikuma–Dunkwa Road, the Twifo Praso–Kyekyewere–Dunkwa Road and the Dunkwa–Ayanfuri Road as some of the critical routes requiring immediate attention.
Roads Vital to Regional Connectivity
Mr. Lokko explained that the affected roads serve as important transportation corridors linking the northern part of the Central Region to neighbouring regions, including Ashanti, Western, Western North and Ahafo.
He noted that the poor state of the roads is slowing the movement of people and goods, increasing transportation costs and affecting economic activities across the enclave.
According to him, improving the road network would not only ease transportation challenges but also stimulate investment and development in the area.

Call for Government Intervention
The DDA President appealed to government to prioritise the rehabilitation of the roads under ongoing infrastructure development programmes.
He stressed that quality road infrastructure remains essential for economic growth, access to social services and the overall wellbeing of residents.
Mr. Lokko expressed optimism that addressing the road challenges would unlock new opportunities for businesses, farmers and traders who depend on the routes for their daily activities.
Development Through Improved Infrastructure
He further emphasized that improved roads would enhance access to education, healthcare and commercial centres while strengthening regional integration and trade.
The Association believes that upgrading the road network will significantly improve living conditions and support sustainable development within the Denkyira enclave.
The appeal adds to growing calls from residents and stakeholders for increased investment in road infrastructure to support economic growth and improve mobility across the area.
