The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Aggrey Memorial A.M.E. Zion Senior High School in Cape Coast has rejected claims that some of its students assaulted an Adisadel College student during recent inter-school sports activities.
The PTA Chairman, Omar Bin Abdullah, made the statement at a press conference organised by the Aggrey Memorial PTA in Cape Coast, where he said the association was setting the record straight regarding the alleged assault on Rexford Owusu-Ansah, a student of Adisadel College.

According to him, the police report on the incident was one-sided and inaccurate, and wrongly portrayed Aggrey Memorial students as suspects.
He expressed concern over what he described as the hasty release of the full names of the students involved, who are minors.
“We found the alacrity with which the police published the full names of juvenile suspects very heartbreaking and unfortunate,” he said.
Students pursued
Omar Bin Abdullah explained that information gathered from school authorities and other stakeholders indicated that Aggrey Memorial students were actually being pursued by students of Adisadel College during the incident.
He said the confrontation occurred on February 20, 2026, after students left the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, where inter-school sports activities had taken place.
According to him, Aggrey Memorial students were confronted by some Adisadel students near a filling station, where the latter allegedly challenged them to a fight.
He said the situation escalated when stones were thrown and some Adisadel students reportedly joined the confrontation armed with baseball bats, cutlasses and other sharp objects.
Due to their smaller number, the Aggrey Memorial students fled the scene for safety, he added.
Police involvement
The PTA Chairman said the students were later directed by a police officer in a moving vehicle to seek refuge at the Regional Fire Service Station at Pedu.
He added that the Senior Housemaster and an assistant later transported the students to the Kotokuraba Police Station to assist with investigations.
Omar Bin Abdullah stressed that no complaint was lodged at the police station by Rexford Owusu-Ansah alleging that he had been attacked by Aggrey Memorial students.

He also denied claims that the six students from Aggrey Memorial had been arrested by the police.
“Our students did not attack or assault Rexford Owusu-Ansah, and the claim that they were arrested is not true,” he said.
Call for correction
The PTA Chaiman said the association believes the police press release on the matter was false and misleading, adding that it has affected the reputation of the school and its students.
He said Aggrey Memorial Senior High School remains committed to discipline and ethical behaviour among its students.
However, the association has called on the police to correct the earlier report and apologise, while also removing the names of the students from any public records because they are minors.
“We respectfully request that the accurate account be considered to correct the misrepresentation in the original press release by the Ghana Police Service,” he said.
Omar Bin Abdullah added that the PTA and school authorities are ready to cooperate fully with investigations to establish the true facts surrounding the incident.
