The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, has reiterated his commitment to improving education and healthcare infrastructure across the constituency.
Speaking during the commissioning of a newly constructed six-unit classroom block at the Esuekyir M/A Basic School on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the MP indicated that expanding access to quality education and healthcare services remains a key priority of his leadership.
The classroom block, which was funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), forms part of the eight-year development plan for the Cape Coast Metropolis aimed at addressing the classroom deficit and creating a more conducive teaching and learning environment.
According to Dr. Nyarku, the project was undertaken in collaboration with the Metropolitan Chief Executive to ensure that completed development projects are commissioned and handed over to the appropriate authorities for effective use.
“We decided to use today, which is the 5th of March, to commission some of the projects we have completed. We started with the Esuekyir M/A Basic School, where we commissioned and handed over the six-unit classroom block to the Ghana Education Service and the chief of the community,” he said.
Following the commissioning, the MP and the MCE embarked on an inspection tour of several completed and ongoing projects across the constituency.
The delegation visited the Brimsu CHPS Compound, where renovation works have been completed and officially handed over to the health directorate to improve healthcare delivery in the area.
They also inspected the renovated Ayifua Aged Clinic, a facility designed to provide a place for elderly people in the community to relax, interact and receive support.
Dr. Nyarku explained that the facility will serve as a social and wellness centre for retired individuals and elderly residents who may not have companions at home.
“Some of the elderly people do not have friends at home or may have lost loved ones, so this facility gives them the opportunity to meet others, share experiences and relax,” he noted.
The team also inspected the Nkanfoa Health Facility and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Health Directorate as part of efforts to assess the state of healthcare infrastructure within the constituency.
At Apewosika, Dr. Nyarku donated building materials, including bags of cement, iron rods, sand and stones to support the second phase of the construction of a CHPS compound in the community.
He explained that he had earlier supported the first phase of the project and remains committed to ensuring its completion to expand access to healthcare services.
The MP further appealed to community members to take proper care of the facilities provided, noting that poor maintenance culture often leads to the rapid deterioration of public infrastructure.
He urged pupils and residents to protect school furniture, learning materials and other resources provided for their benefit.
Dr. Nyarku emphasized that continued investment in education and healthcare infrastructure is critical to improving the well-being of residents and accelerating development across the Cape Coast North Constituency.
The event was attended by the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, George Justice Arthur, officials from the Ghana Education Service led by the Central Regional Director, Dr. Juliette Dufie Otami and Chief of Esuekyir, Nana Kojo Abaka V, as well as teachers, pupils and residents of the Esuekyir community.
