Cape Coast Metro has honoured hardworking farmer Isaac Kofi Krakraba as the Overall Best Farmer for the 2025 Farmers’ and Fishers’ Day Celebration. The colourful ceremony was held on Friday, 5th December, at Esuekyir in the Cape Coast Metropolis. It formed part of activities marking the 41st Metro Farmers’ and Fishers’ Day.
This year’s national celebration is on the theme: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
The theme underscores the importance of producing and consuming locally grown food to strengthen Ghana’s food security and reduce the nation’s reliance on imports.
The event brought together several dignitaries, including the Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area and Member of the Council of State, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, the MP for Cape Coast North, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, traditional leaders, clergy, students and key stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
Addressing the gathering, MCE of CCMA, George Justice Arthur, praised farmers and fishers for their resilience, innovation and continuous contributions to Ghana’s agricultural growth, saying their efforts remain the backbone of national development.
He emphasized that the Government has invested heavily in its Comprehensive Agricultural Policy under the Feed Ghana Programme to boost agriculture and the fishing industry, enhance food security, and drive productive exports.
The Overall Best Farmer, Isaac Kofi Krakraba, cultivates about 8 acres of maize, plantain, cassava, oranges and neem trees. He is also admired for his strong community spirit, including providing care for five orphans.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Krakraba expressed gratitude to the elders and residents of Cape Coast North for their support. He pledged to continue encouraging young people to venture into farming.
He stressed that farming is profitable, saying, “I earn more than some people working in offices.”
The beginning of everything is hard—but hard work and perseverance got me to where I am, and I encourage prospective farmers not to get discouraged at their small start-ups.
Mr. Krakraba highlighted challenges facing farmers, including limited access to fertilizer funds, unpredictable rainfall patterns and the unreliability of some farmhands.
He, however, noted that these challenges should not deter one from succeeding in Agriculture.
At the ceremony, the Academy of Christ the King Senior High School received recognition as the Best SHS in Agriculture for its strong practical training and participation in agricultural activities.
MP for Cape Coast North, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, commended all awardees and encouraged them to continue contributing to the growth of agriculture in the area.
