The Central Regional President of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA), Dr. Kenneth Shelton Aikins, says Mfantsipim School’s victory in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) has reignited educational pride among schools in the Central Region.
Speaking to ATL FM News after the competition, Dr. Aikins described the back-to-back win, Mfantsipim’s fourth championship title, as a remarkable achievement that underscores the region’s academic strength, with sister schools Adisadel College and St. Augustine’s College also being past NSMQ champions.
“We have sister schools around, a couple of them have also won the championship cup before, Adisadel College and St. Augustine’s College, and this is welcome news. It’s a boost for education in the Central Region,” he said.
At the end of the five-round contest, Mfantsipim School emerged winners with 56 points, followed by St. Augustine’s College with 42 points, and Opoku Ware School placing third with 29 points.
Dr. Aikins expressed joy over the victory, noting that it reflects the school’s strong leadership, discipline, and enduring values.
“It shows that the school is on the right path… we are treading the path of the saints and holding the torchlight of the faithful eight,” he remarked.
He highlighted MOBA Central’s ongoing commitment to supporting Mfantsipim’s pursuit of excellence through financial aid, prayer, and mentorship, describing their contributions as “modest but impactful.”
“This is a tip of the iceberg since the national MOBA also supports in diverse ways. We do these things modestly because for us, silence is golden and we believe that outcomes show where we excel,” he added.
Dr. Aikins urged students to remain disciplined, focused, and spiritually grounded, reminding them that success requires both moral and intellectual diligence.
“Let us remember that a breach of school rules is a breach of common sense. Let us concentrate on our studies and always defer to God as the source of all knowledge,” he advised.
“If we defer to God and apply the little wisdom that has been given to us as human beings, we should always go for the gold; the gold is a mark of excellence,” he continued.
