The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of four individuals in connection with illegal arms possession and the dissemination of false information, following the recent Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, the Police said the arrests were part of ongoing intelligence-led operations conducted in collaboration with other security agencies.
Among those arrested is Daniel Adomako, popularly known on social media as Sir Obama Pokuase.
He was taken into custody earlier in the day for allegedly circulating images and videos online showing individuals openly brandishing sophisticated, illegally acquired weapons. He is currently assisting with investigations.
According to the statement, the operations, which have been ongoing for several weeks, have resulted in the recovery of a “substantial number of illegal arms and ammunition.”
The Police also confirmed that three others, Prince Ofori, Yayra Abiwu, and Emmanuel Kwakye are in custody assisting investigations into alleged death threats and the publication of false news linked to the fatal helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of eight military personnel.
“The Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens by rooting out criminal elements and preventing the proliferation of illegal arms,” the statement read.
The service urged members of the public to provide credible information to aid ongoing investigations, assuring that further updates will be released in line with due process.
