The University of Cape Coast (UCC) came alive on Friday night as students gathered in their numbers to celebrate the grand finale of the 62nd SRC Week celebration.
The highly anticipated Artiste Night, hosted under the leadership of outgoing SRC President Abraham Norman Nortey, was headlined by none other than Ghanaian Afro-dancehall star, Stonebwoy, whose electrifying performance lit up the campus with excitement, music, and unity.
The event, staged at the Casford Field, drew thousands of students who turned out to mark the climax of the SRC Week celebration filled with cultural, academic, and entertainment activities.

But beyond the lights and sound, the night also served as a symbolic farewell to a student leader whose tenure has been widely praised for bold initiatives and student-centered policies.
In a brief but heartfelt address before Stonebwoy took the stage, President Norman Nortey expressed gratitude to the student body for their support throughout his administration.
“As we approach the close of our administration, I am humbled by the legacy we’ve built together,” he said. “These achievements are not just projects. They are footprints of a vision, of what happens when leadership meets service,” he stated
He recounted some key milestones under his tenure, including the construction of the SWLT Footbridge (popularly dubbed the “Shatta Wale Bridge”), the Norman Bus Stop Project, the unveiling of the university’s first-ever SRC Cloth and motto, and the introduction of the 10GB Monthly Data Bundle Initiative. Other welfare-focused interventions such as the SRC Bolt Emergency Ride Service, Free Meals for Hospitalized Students, Free Health Screenings, Consultation Services, and the NHIS Registration and Renewal Drive also drew praise.
The Artiste Night, he added, was not just a celebration of music but a reflection of the spirit of the UCC student, vibrant, united, and resilient.

Stonebwoy’s performance was the night’s crown jewel. The award-winning artist delivered an energetic set, performing back-to-back hits that had the crowd on their feet throughout. Songs like Run Go, Activate, and Therapy sent fans into frenzied singalongs as phone lights flickered across the field like stars.

Beyond the headliner, the night also featured performances from budding campus talents and local DJs, further enriching the event’s entertainment value and offering a platform for emerging voices.
