Former journalist and musician, Mzbel has revealed she is disappointed over the snub by the ruling National Democratic Congress, (NDC) as she hasn’t been approached with any appointment deal ever since her party, the NDC came to power.
Although several of her peers in the creative industry have received appointments from the new government, singer Mzbel has expressed her disappointment at not being considered for any position, despite her dedicated efforts for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mzbel’s commitment to the party and her dedication during their campaign have not translated into the kind of acknowledgment she had hoped for, leaving her feeling overlooked compared to her colleagues who have been rewarded with various appointments.

She revealed that even if the President were to personally reach out to her with an offer for a political appointment, she would politely decline. Her decision stems from observing the reactions and criticisms that some Ghanaians direct towards individuals who accept such appointments.
“The truth is that I will turn down an offer of appointment should the President even call because I want peace of mind. I don’t want anyone to equate my success to politics because I work very hard. “For instance, should I travel for even my own show, they will say ‘she is travelling with taxpayers’ money. Politics has made her and this and that.”

She expressed that, for now, her priority is to maintain her peace of mind and avoid the potential stress and scrutiny that often accompany political roles. By choosing to focus on her personal well-being, she aims to distance herself from the controversies and challenges tied to political engagements.
She shared with Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, March 4, that her home has practically transformed into an unofficial extension of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters.
According to her, numerous members of the party, along with its sympathizers, frequently visit her residence, seeking her assistance in securing employment opportunities. The constant stream of requests has created a situation where her personal space is often overwhelmed by the expectations and demands of those who view her as a key figure capable of influencing job placements. This pressure, she noted, has become a significant aspect of her daily life.

Amidst the numerous challenges she has faced, she was candid in expressing her profound disappointment over the decision not to offer her any appointment at this time, especially when some of her colleagues in the creative industry have already been granted such opportunities. What cuts the deepest for her is the fact that she has allegedly endured bullying and threats as a result of her unwavering support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“However, I’m disappointed that some of my colleagues have been given appointments while I’ve not even been called. Considering the fact that I’ve really been bullied, insulted and even threatened because of NDC so it’s disappointing that with the party in power now, Mzbel has been forgotten and no one has bothered to even get in touch with me.”
Despite her sacrifices and the risks she has taken to stand firmly by the party, she remains disheartened that no one has reached out to her with any form of acknowledgment or offer. This lack of recognition, coupled with the hardships she has faced, has left her feeling overlooked and unappreciated.
