The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has assured residents facing severe water shortages that urgent measures are being implemented to restore supply, with a promise of relief within the week.
The crisis has left communities in Tamale, Bimbilla, Kasoa, and Ho struggling to access water, disrupting daily activities and placing significant strain on essential services, including hospitals and prisons.
In Ho, where the impact has been particularly severe, GWCL Communications Manager Stanley Martey told Channel One TV that the company was working around the clock to stabilise the situation.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Our team is making every effort to restore supply, and we expect the situation in Ho to improve by the end of the week,” he assured.
To address the issue, GWCL has activated a spare water pump and expects to install another by Thursday, providing a short-term fix to sustain supply.
Martey also warned against water theft, which he said could worsen the crisis for other residents.
“We urge the public to use water responsibly so that the limited supply can be distributed fairly,” he cautioned.
As the company works to resolve the crisis, affected residents remain hopeful that the promised interventions will bring much-needed relief soon.
