The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled elections to select Regional Representatives for the Council of State for Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
The elections will take place simultaneously in all regional capitals, as mandated by Paragraph (C), Clause (2) of Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution.
In a statement signed by the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, the Commission outlined key details regarding the nomination process and election arrangements.
Nomination Process
The EC has opened the nomination process for qualified individuals interested in contesting the elections.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Commission’s website, and all completed forms must be submitted between January 28 and January 31, 2025.

Prospective candidates must submit three copies of their completed nomination forms along with two recent passport-sized photographs against a red background.
Nominations require the backing of two registered voters as proposer and seconder, with additional endorsements from 20 registered voters within the same region. Candidates are also required to provide written consent confirming their willingness to stand for election.
Submission Details
Nomination forms must be delivered to the EC’s Regional Directors during the designated times:
- Morning: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Afternoon: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Commission emphasized that nominations submitted outside these times will not be accepted.

The EC has assured the public that the elections will be conducted at designated venues in all regional capitals.
These venues will be announced ahead of time to ensure smooth coordination.
