Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is reportedly battling chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), according to NBC News on Monday, which cited sources.
Weinstein is receiving treatment for CML, a type of bone marrow cancer, while serving time at New York’s Rikers Island, where he is awaiting trial on rape charges, NBC reported.
Craig Rothfeld, Weinstein’s legal healthcare representative, declined to comment on his condition when asked by Reuters, citing a need to respect Weinstein’s privacy.
Weinstein, 72, has faced numerous health issues, his lawyers previously revealed. In September, he was rushed from Rikers Island to the hospital for heart surgery.

Weinstein, who maintains that he never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity, was convicted of rape in February 2020, a case that fueled the #MeToo movement.

However, in April, the New York Court of Appeals overturned his conviction, stating that the trial judge improperly allowed testimony from individuals Weinstein wasn’t formally charged with assaulting, depriving him of a fair trial.
He is currently awaiting a retrial.
Weinstein also faces two additional criminal charges from an earlier indictment, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
These include another first-degree criminal sexual act and a third-degree rape charge. In September, he also pleaded not guilty to a new sexual assault charge.
His representatives have previously stated that Weinstein suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid around his heart and lungs.
