On Sunday, September 8, 2024, Ghana was eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in 2024, despite defeating New Zealand 3-1 in their last Group E match.
In a dead rubber match, the Black Princesses defeated the Junior Football Ferns thanks to a brace from Salamatu Abdulai.
She tucked home from close range in her opener, which gave Ghana the lead, just before the hour mark.

However, the Kiwis were tied after five minutes thanks to Emma Pijnenburg.
On minute seventy-two, Abdulai’s looping header from captain Stella Nyamekye’s cross gave Ghana their lead back.
One minute after her debut, Tracey Twum, the substitute, scored the third goal.
With three minutes, the Black Princesses placed third in the group, but that wasn’t good enough to advance them to the knockout stage.
