The Alternative Force for Action (AFA), led by Independent presidential aspirant Dr. Sam Ankrah, has committed to an ambitious plan to revitalize Ghana’s struggling economy and address pressing environmental issues.
Speaking on JoyNews, Dr. Ankrah emphasized the need for a radical, hands-on approach to governance, highlighting Ghana’s dire economic and environmental conditions.
He noted the country’s overwhelming debt, rampant waste, and inadequate waste processing structures as critical issues that need immediate attention highlighting that “Our country is engulfed in debt and waste, with no serious waste processing structures. This is serious,”
He warned of potential health crises exacerbated by the rainy season and open gutters, stressing the need for a comprehensive correlation between health and environment at the national level adding that “We could face serious disease outbreaks due to waste mismanagement,”
Dr. Ankrah outlined AFA’s plan to implement compulsory recycling from day one in office, emphasizing the economic potential of waste.
“Waste is money, and we need to harness it. We can generate clean water, power, and even building materials from waste,” he explained.
He also criticized the current government’s failure to empower the private sector, which he believes is crucial for economic growth.
He noted “Economies are built by the private sector. Government should create an enabling environment for the private sector to drive the economy,” Dr. Ankrah argued.
AFA promises a radical shift to inspire and organize the private sector as the main driver of Ghana’s economy, encompassing all sectors of industry. Dr. Ankrah concluded, “We need a radical move to motivate and organize the private sector to be the mainstream of our economy.”
