According to the most recent figures issued by the Ghana Statistical Service, inflation dropped to 22.8% in June.
The number indicates a 0.3 percentage point decline from the 23.1% reported in May. However, the Ghana Statistical Service has highlighted many goods at both the national and household levels that may necessitate policy actions owing to considerable price hikes.
Data from the Ghana Statistical Service revealed prices for some commodities have also climbed in the same period in 2023.
Notably, food products such as okro, green pepper, tomatoes, and other food and non-food items were among the top 20 to see significant price hikes.
According to the data, prices for several commodities have increased by more than 40% during the same period in 2023.

The report further revealed fresh Okro placed first with a year-on-year inflation rate of 87.8%, followed by fresh green pepper at 71.0%.
Fresh tomatoes finished third, with an annual average price fluctuation of 67.5% and a monthly price variation of 27.1%.
Nine new arrivals include oranges with a year-on-year inflation of 55.9%, garlic with a 50.1% price change, avocado pear with a 48.3% year-on-year price change, and cocoyam leaves with a price rise of 46.5%.
