Despite accusations over miming, Sammy Flex, the manager of multiple award-winning Dancehall artist Shatta Wale, has defended the artist’s performance at the opening ceremony of the 13th African Games.
At the renowned African Games opening ceremony on Wednesday, March 8 at the University of Ghana Stadium, Shatta Wale, King Promise of Ghana, and Kemo Mpela of South Africa performed.
The crooner known as “Dancehall Commando” has come under fire for lip-syncing while performing live. Sammy Flex has provided an explanation for the act, despite the opinions of some fans who thought a live band would have been preferable.
Sammy Flex confirmed in a post on X that there had been prior negotiations over the intended performance style with the organizers.
Miming had the exact effect that the organizers had hoped for. He went on to say that the well-known Dancehall artist performed to a favorable reception because everything went according to plan.

“The group in charge of planning the inaugural All African Games had a distinct idea for the event. Following numerous conversations with Shatta Movement, Shatta Wale and his group received an overview of the requirements for the intended outcome. Shatta Wale fulfilled the request exactly.
