The National Sports Authority received around GH₵70,000 from Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Abiola, in order to obtain the Accra Sports Stadium for his 5th Dimension Concert, which took place on December 22, 2023.
This isn’t the story that National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General Peter Twumasi told the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Stonebwoy was said to have paid GH₵70,000 in the account.
The management said that the sum that was quoted was inaccurate in an interview with Merqury Quaye and Dr. Shine on U Say Wetin on Hitz FM.
“To be very honest with you, these are contractual matters and usually I wouldn’t want to engage in a public space but the Public Accounts Committee is a very serious committee that , it got before the committee so I wouldn’t want to be here on radio to state otherwise.

But what I can tell you clearly is that I was delegated by Stonebwoy to lead the charge in terms of doing the negotiations and payment of the stadium. I can also tell you for a fact that yes we paid more than GH₵70,000 for the stadium but I mean I am just watching the issues unfold so I wouldn’t want to disclose into detail for now. I hope you bear with me,” he said.
Peter Twumasi, who took over as the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) Director General in 2018, has come under heavy criticism for his lack of focus on the nation’s stadiums.
He has suffered a great deal of backlash for scheduling concerts at the Accra Sports Stadium in December 2023.
The clubs were urged to locate alternate fields for their Ghana Premier League home games after the NSA declared that the stadium would not be used for athletic events in December.
When he appeared before the Public Account Committee on Monday, February 5, 2024, Twumasi defended the move saying “before we shifted our sporting activities to other stadia, we made mention of this to all stakeholders that in December, a particular period will be used for other events which are not sporting and the revenue for it should be able to recover entirely everything.”
