Queen Selorm Magdalene Gadah, the 2023 Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) winner, is urging young people to pursue their goals and put in the necessary effort to make them come true.
“The only thing stopping you from achieving your dreams is yourself,” says Queen Selorm, who said she has always wanted to be a GMB queen.
“I have been dreaming about this since 2016 when I was in senior high school, and I worked towards it. What this (her win) shows is that if you want something and you work hard at it, you will get it,” she told fellow congregants at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) – Teshie, on Sunday,18 November, 2023 during a thanksgiving service to honour God and celebrate her win.
A committed member of the EPCG Teshie congregation, Queen Selorm is. For the first time since winning the GMB title last month, she was going back to her church. Songs from the EPC hymnal as well as traditional agbadza music and dancing were used to greet her.
She thanked the congregation and the church leadership in her speech for their prayers and support during the competition.

“No amount of ‘thank yous’ will be enough for what God has done for me. I am grateful to God first, and to all of you. Please continue to support me in prayers and in any other ways you can.
“I want to use this platform to thank God and to execute my project. We have a lot of deprived basic schools on the islands in the Volta Region. They don’t have educational materials, so my focus is on the islands in the region”‘, she added.
Her “Say Yes to Education” project aims to supply instructional resources to schools located on Volta Region islands. In addition, Queen Selorm is involved in various initiatives that teach kids about women’s empowerment and sexual traditions.
The 2023 GMB reigning queen honored her late mother by dedicating her victory. She would have been present right now. She always watches GMB, but this year she wasn’t present to see me. God is the best judge. She said, “I think she is keeping an eye on me wherever she is.”
The congregation was led in prayer for Selorm by Rev. Richard K. Nimo, the district pastor of EPCG Teshie. He exhorted her to shine for young people to follow and to always be the light wherever she goes.
