The government has denied claims made by Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1, the former chief executive officer of Menzgold Ghana Limited, that he deposited GH¢5 million with the Ghana Police Service.
According to a statement issued by NAM1, GH¢5 million was turned up to the Ghana Police Service on October 20 to be dispersed to clients of the collapsed firm.
He emphasised that the funds were intended to be handed to consumers who successfully completed the company’s verification procedure, which included a GH¢2.5 million judgement debt.

However, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, disclosed that just GH¢2.5 million—rather than the claimed GH¢5 million—was received from NAM1 in response to to questions on the floor of Parliament.
“The record I have before me indicates that an amount of GH¢2.5 million was paid, so the claim of GH¢5 million having been paid to the Ghana Police Service is untrue. It was only GH¢2.5 million that was paid to the Ghana Police Service by the accused person.”
Customers who were dissatisfied with the company’s suspension of operations in 2018 have been clamouring for the return of their monies. Since then, the firm has been accused of operating a Ponzi scheme.
Nana Appiah Mensah, better known as NAM1, is presently facing fraud charges.
