The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has been ordered to return the funds previously seized from Cecilia Dapaah, the former Sanitation Minister, within a seven-day timeframe.
This is per Instruction by the Accra High Court.
Cecilia Dapaah became entangled in a legal dispute when the OSP confiscated her assets.
Acting swiftly, the Special Prosecutor apprehended substantial amounts of cash to serve as essential evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Simultaneously, an astonishing sum of GHC2.730,000 in cash was unearthed at the same location.
Shocking revelations emerged from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, disclosing that an impressive $590,000 in cash was discovered during the search of the former Minister’s Abelemkpe residence.
The OSP is presently probing Madam Dapaah for alleged acts of corruption and corruption-related offences, prompted by revelations that she had been harbouring over $1 million within her dwelling.
Following the alarming revelation of stolen funds implicating her domestic staff, the Office of the Special Prosecutor initiated an extensive search of the Minister’s residences, prompted by the substantial amounts reported missing.
Pending further investigations into the alleged corrupt activities, the OSP subsequently froze Cecilia Dapaah’s cedi and dollar accounts.
In a significant turn of events, the Accra High Court recently ruled in favour of Cecilia Dapaah, overturning the confiscation of her assets and compelling the Office of the Special Prosecutor to return the seized funds within seven days.
