The College of Distance Education (CoDE) of the University of Cape Coast has assured of its commitment to offering quality distance education to its current as well as prospective students.
According to the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Science programmes at CoDE, Professor Emmanuel Abu, the college has incorporated several strategies into its distance programmes as well as marketing the programmes to make them more competitive.
This he notes is to make the graduates from CoDE the best on the market.
“We have over the years adopted different strategies to market our programs and to make our graduates the best on the market” he continued.
He also assured that the college is working hard to ensure the quality of the distance education programs offered and to maintain the regular programs.
Professor Emmanuel Abu was speaking on Atlantic Wave on ATLFM on the ongoing admissions into the various programs of the college.
The College of Distance Education offers programs including a Bachelor of Education in Arts, accounting, management, social studies, Bachelor of Education in primary education, early childhood, M.A in Security and peace programs, M.A in International relations, Diploma in Social Behaviour and Conflicts management among other undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes.
Explaining further, Prof. Emmanuel Abu said“In my department, for example, we do purely for secondary school. We do secondary subjects so you will get programs that would enable you to teach at the secondary school level. One thing that makes the program so unique about UCC Distance is that we don’t water down the quality and the standard.”
He added that CoDE has also introduced online delivery modes, and online presentations by students aimed at improving the technological skills and knowledge of students to be able to compete with the regular students.
He emphasized that the training the students get is also to help them stand out and compete with the global village as 21st-century graduates in delivering quality education.
On his part, the Head of the Department of Business Programmes at CoDE, Professor Siaw Frimpong indicated that to enhance ease and accessibility, the college has introduced modules or textbooks which are both in print and soft copy formats.
He said in other to create more flexibility for students the college has “even gone further by recording most of our modules or textbooks. And that means that, now students can listen to the lectures wherever they are and interact with lecturers as and when they want.
He, therefore, called on all prospective students to choose UCC CoDE in pursuit of their educational goals.
