Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama says nothing will stop him from appointing Gyakye Quayson as Minister if he wins the 2024 Presidential Elections.
To him, James Gyakye Quayson will go beyond the mark of leading the people of Assin North and ensure development in the area if given the nod to lead that constituency as the Member of Parliament.
The former president said, “If God helps me to be president, nothing will stop me from appointing him as a minister. Even as an opposition MP, look at what he has been able to do in terms of development from his own pockets. Just imagine what he would do if he becomes a minister,”
He said this while speaking to Assin North Constituents over the weekend ahead of the Parliamentary by-elections on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has advised constituents at Assin North not to vote for individuals entangled in legal controversies that may eventually lead them to face imprisonment.
he emphasized saying “We need someone who can come and help you. Someone who will work in your interest. I heard Gyakye Quayson say that even in prison, you people will vote for him, can he work from jail? We vote for people to go to Parliament to work, how can he work from prison so don’t vote for someone who will end up in jail, vote for someone who can work to improve your lives.”
The three contesting the Member of Parliament seat include James Gyakye Quayson for the NDC, Charles Opoku for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu on the ticket of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
The NPP and NDC concluded their intense campaigns at the Assin North Constituency over the weekend.
