The Students’ Parliamentary Council of University of Cape Coast has resumed sitting for the second meeting of the second session of the 20th Parliament with a call on members to remain steadfast to the legislative duty of the House.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Edmund Osei-Wusu, who made the call, also asked the Members of Parliament (MPs) to take the attendance of the House more seriously and use parliamentary tools in resolving disagreements on the floor of Parliament.
He informed the House that the Parliamentary Council would celebrate its 20th anniversary in July, this year, and urged members to fully participate in all the activities earmarked for the anniversary.
As part of its programme of activities, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President, Mr. Latif Lawrence Johorwie, would be expected to brief the House on the state of the SRC.
Rt. Hon Osei-Wusu, with the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG-UCC) Senate Speaker, Rt. Hon Ebenezer Nyatsi, jointly launched the 20th anniversary of the UCC Students’ Parliamentary Council. The celebration will be on the theme, “20 Years of Spirited Student Parliamentarianism: Upholding Democratic Tenets and Integrity.”
The Speaker also used the occasion to swear-in new MPs and implored them to do their level best to adjust to the norms and ethics of the House.
