The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong has cut sod for the construction of the UCC Basic School Annex Primary School Block.
The project when fully completed will have a multimedia center, computer laboratory, conference room, and bookshop among other ancillary spaces.
Professor Johnson Nyarko Boampong indicated that the construction of the Basic School Annex Primary School Block is to expand the school’s infrastructure to help increase enrollment and close the infrastructure deficit.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony he said “We need to make sure that these projects that we are about to start, we construct it on time, make sure that we are able to finish so that we can admit the students.”
To him, the project will attract more people to add to the increasing number of students adding “When it is done, it will go a long way to improve the image of the school.”
The Chairman of the Basic School Annex Implementation Committee, Professor Edward Marfo-Yiadom hinted that his outfit aims at completing the project as early as possible to hand it over for use.
He however called on all relevant stakeholders to offer their maximum assistance to speed up the completion of the project.
“From the committee’s viewpoint, we want to construct and complete the ground floor to use the facility come the next school year. And we are looking at any time beginning October this year,” he continued.
