A Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 9645-19 was burnt to ashes when four vehicles traveling in different directions on the Apam-Mankessim highway crashed at Ekumfi Edukuma without any casualty being recorded.
The accident which occurred on 8th May around 1: 23 pm included a Ford E35 with registration number GE 3383-12, Acura number GT 2364-15, and Mercedes Benz Sprinter number GW 7271-12 ramming into each other.
According to a report cited by ATL FM News and signed by the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII, Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Mfantsiman Municipal Command of the Ghana National Fire Service at Mankessim received the distress call at 13:23hrs and arrived at the scene at 1333hrs to realize a vehicle on fire whiles the others were crashed into each other.
The report said, the fire personnel assessed the situation and quickly extinguished the vehicular fire that engulfed Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 9645-19.
It further said per an eyewitness report, the Toyota Highlander was traveling towards Apam whiles the Ford E35 was heading in the opposite direction when the highlander run into the Ford vehicle due to poor visibility caused by a bushfire right at the shoulder of the road.
The other cars which were following the Highlander also run into each other and the Highlander veered off the road into the burning bush and also caught fire.
The report also indicated that the personnel cleared the debris from the road and removed all obstacles from the road before opening it up to traffic.
There were no casualties recorded but all the four-vehicle suffered various degrees of damage.
